Exams

Many (though not all) UAF eLearning courses have proctored exams; please check your course syllabus. A proctored exam means that a neutral, third-party person will verify your ID and supervise the exam. He or she will also return the exam to UAF eLearning. See All Proctor Responsibilities

If you are located in Fairbanks, you may take your proctored exams at UAF eLearning. No appointment is necessary. We are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, from 8am to 5pm. Wednesdays are 8am to 7pm. If taking an exam at UAF eLearning, you do not need to locate a proctor or fill out the exam request form.

IF YOU NEED A PROCTOR

If you live in Alaska but outside of Fairbanks and need to take a proctored exam, you must select an appropriate proctor before requesting your exam. A local educational institution like a public school, university, community college, library, or a learning center is the best choice. Relatives, close friends, peer coworkers, or students cannot be proctors. UAF eLearning proctors are approved for a period of four semesters after which time they must reapply for approval.

List of approved Alaska proctors

If you choose to use one of the proctors from the approved list, simply fill out the request an exam form. Allow one week for processing. Your exam will be sent to your proctor.

REQUESTING AN ALTERNATE PROCTOR

If you do not have access to any of the proctors on the approved list or are located outside of Alaska, you may request a new proctor by completely filling in the request an exam form. Once the exam request is received by UAF eLearning, a Proctor Eligibility Form will be emailed to your proctor. Your requested proctor must complete and return the Proctor Eligibility form before being screened for eligibility. This process can take two to three weeks so please start the process early in the semester!

EXAM GRADES

At the discretion of the instructor, students may be allowed to view corrected exams at the UAF eLearning office. Students outside Fairbanks may be able to schedule an appointment with the original proctor to review corrected exams (ask your instructor about policies for your course).

FINAL EXAMS AND COURSE GRADES

Please note that students must ordinarily receive a passing grade on their final exam in order to obtain credit for the course. If you take the final exam without completing all course work, you may not receive a final grade.

If you have questions or concerns about the exam process, please email uaf-elearning-exam@alaska.edu or call 907-479-4715.
